What stops you doing what you really want to do?It took Tracy Plaice sixteen years, a near-fatal car crash and a badly broken right hand to realise the importance of playing the piano in her life. As a child Tracy was passionate about playing a piano, but was unable to share that with others for fear of not being good enough. When the car crash nearly robbed her of the chance to ever play the piano again, she was determined to learn how to conquer the fear that had held her back. Her personal journey saw her make a massive transition from someone previously too scared to play, even for her parents, to someone who took the international stage. |

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in
which you really stop to look fear in the face.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
Why I Just HAD to Write This Book...I had a passion as a youngster – it was playing a piano, but for many years fear got in the way of being able to share that passion with other people. Sixteen years of tell- ing myself that one day I would get back to it, became a source of deep regret following an almost fatal car crash and a badly broken right hand.
That life-changing event became the catalyst that propelled me to take action. It left me with a burning desire to pack as much into the rest of my life as I could. I vowed to live every day to its fullest, to no longer put things off and to no longer limit what I was going to do because of feelings of fear. Physically, I was determined that my hand would recover so that I could play a piano again. Mentally, I was single-minded about learning how to quash the fear that had held me back.
With dogged determination and a whole host of methods of attack, within a year of starting to take action, I transformed from someone too scared to play for her own parents, to someone who had performed a solo piano piece in seven different concerts, culminating with an international appearance.
Amazingly positive results have transpired across the whole of my life, discovering potential way beyond what I thought I had. With clear evidence that these methods work, I want to share them with anyone else who has the courage to make use of them, as I know that there are so many other people out there who really want something, but fear and ‘reasons’ keep getting in the way.
The ‘reasons’ why we don’t take action are many – ‘Not enough time’ and ‘Not enough money’ I am sure come high on most people’s list. I believe that often what lies buried behind these ‘reasons’ is fear of failure. So rather than try something and risk it not working out, we justify the inaction and commiserate ourselves with thoughts like - it wouldn’t have worked out anyway.
Another major reason for writing this book is to save you the wait. I don’t want you to have to experi- ence a life-threatening event before you find the courage and determination to go after what you really want. It is my intention that through the pages of this book, you will find motivation and a route to success without the need for tragedy to leave you with regrets or spur you on once you have even more obstacles to overcome. My goal is to prompt you to take a closer look at your life, and to fire your imagination to consider what might be possible if you were willing to follow your passion beyond the confines of your comfort zone, beyond life’s obstacles that will never go away.
